The shop locally campaign was kicked off by the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce this week. The goal of the campaign is to get customers to shop locally in York County. In 2010 sales increased almost 6% in areas that had shop-local campaign. Money spent in York County generates local taxes that supports the local schools and governments. Money spent in York County moves through the local economy faster. Think about all the goods and services that are available in York County everyday.

Supermarket-anchored properties are a good investment for development firms. Grocery-anchored shopping centers are valued as anywhere from $15 to $200 million. There are several Grocery-anchored shopping centers in York county. In Rock Hill the Warren Norman Company has developed the Harris Teeter Shopping center and Food Lion Shopping Center.

Commercial Retail Expansion
About 60% of U.S. commercial retailers say they plan to open stores. This is due partly because of attractive rents, which makes it a good time for growth. Luxury goods, wholesale clubs, and discounters are expected to continue to expand. Along with lower rent, landlords are offering financial contributions toward building out, and early lease-termination rights. Retailers are viewing the economy as more stable.
